Drinking is a major problem all over the world, especially in South Korea. This latest K-drama is a comedy drama with Choi Soo Young and Gong Myung. (Both were in K-pop land when they were younger). In this story, she is a top-notch mechanic living in a Man's World, and he's become a doctor. They were drinking buddies when they were in high school. And somewhere down the line, they had a falling out that one might be more clear on than the other. But this is a charming drama far from the maddening crowd of Seoul.
Her mother is the smartest in the family, while her father has always drunk, and her sister with twins and divorced, copes with life through a few beers. It's a good-natured drama, actually. Although it does focus on the woes of alcoholism from many perspectives.
Of course, Gong Myung is no stranger to this storyline. He was in the supporting cast of Drinking Solo 2016. Probably the earliest drama I saw him in who was stressed about getting a good job with the government and in love with his brother's girlfriend, yet being good friends (Jung Chae Yeon) with someone he studied with.
The drama is only 12 episodes. It is a tender subject. Alcoholism is something many still face. (now on Viki).
Sounds good
ReplyDeleteGreat plot.
ReplyDeleteI just know my mom would love this.
ReplyDeleteOh, it has all the traditional K-drama with it, comedy, coming back to support your community. GM has grown up a lot. And he just seems to get more expressive. He is one to take chances. The last one I saw him in he was the one in an abusive relationship...where his wife was always beating him up.
