Project X

On one hand, this is a very short movie. Only 88 minutes long, but its 88 minutes you have to endure of this fiasco on the screen. Its shot psydo-documentary style based on something that supposedly really happened with a party that got out of hand somewhere in Australia.

R.B. Brown, Thomas Mann and Oliver Cooper

Here, you take 3 unknowns (actors too) in high school who create, what the one friend(Oliver Cooper aka Costa in the film) calls A GAME CHANGER. Throw in one of the most original story-lines from the pilot of SKINS (Americanizing, no doubt) and you have the beginning of digression. Soon enough, you are worried about the family dog Milo because he goes through a lot of mayhem at this party. And to think, birthday boy Thomas was afraid no one would show up.

Oh, how I adore Miles Teller. Thankfully, he wasn't much more than a cameo in the film.

But in the age of My Space, FACEBOOK and Craig's list well..look out world, everyone is coming to get in on the story. Even Miles Teller. Interesting how folks use their real name in this movie. His character is a college guy who's on the college baseball team, and he brings a party bus full of babes and booze.

Of course, Thomas Mann is the boy who has to take the heat in all of this. And yes, we see the many faces of Thomas, from loser, to dazed and confused through this journey of kick-ass party mayhem. Naturally, you would have thought the cops would have caught on quick enough, or the neighbors would have cut off this disaster from happening. But who knew who would catch wind of this awesome party? Not everyone was hip on the pumped up soundtrack with raging hormones and jumping into the pool topless.

The girls of PROJECT X Kirby Bliss Blanton, Nichole Bloom + Anna Sophia Berglund

In spite of the crowd and doing a very bad thing to a little person in the kitchen, there is still time to have a little romance between Thomas and Kirby (Kirby Bliss Blanton), his bestie from school. Of course, he takes advice from the worst friend ever (Costa, who got the party rolling), who claims this party is to change things, not be stuck with what you've already got. What this character missed were the engaging characters of Superbad. This trio just doesn't have the gusto of who starred in Superbad. No bromance. No bonding.

Naturally, Thomas has to learn the hard way.

This is a movie for those who love the teenage dream of the teenage wasteland. What else could we think up after American Pie (there is a reunion of that even which is out soon) and other Comedy Central run of the mill late night movies. There is a genre for this sort of frat mayhem. Is it exposing our pop culture or giving it any justice? Its as if we've gone autopilot, somehow. We really don't have to have a natural disaster with this kind of reckless youth. This kind of stuff can give the next generation a very bad name. Not giving a care about anything.

The movie ends so disturbing. And even in the You Tube fashioned way it was filmed in its voyeuristic approach just gives off the persona of Nasty Boys that even Janet Jackson wouldn't want to sing about.

TRIVIA:  Loosely based on the house party of Corey Delaney in Australia. The then-teenager posted the address of his house party on MySpace, attracting around 500 people and caused over $20,000 in property damage. His party attracted journalists and was widely disliked by the public, having been assaulted by a group of teenagers after the events.imdb

Fashion Star

NBC has something new, sort of, in REALITY TV. Where you watch it today and wear it tomorrow!

Premise: The show, hosted by supermodel Elle Macpherson, will see designers from various fields compete for a contract that will put their fashion lines in retail stores. The Times said viewers will be able to buy the contestants' designs online, with NBC getting a share of sales.

Promoting her upcoming NBC reality television series ‘Fashion Star’, celebrity fashion designer Nicole Richie covers the April issue of Canadian magazine Flare.
Check out the Fashion Designer's bios!

The show will star Jessica Simpson as a mentor to the designers. Also Nicole Richie is on board as part of the judge panel, too.  Daniel Musto is around for styling and Juliane Kaye will help out with make up.

You'll also have sexy Raphi Kammer helping out with the show, as well.

‘Fashion Star’ premiers on Tuesday, March 13th at 9:30/8:30 central time on NBC!

Notes from the closet

So much potential in the beginning. But they aren't the whole show.

Rumor has it that shows like THE SECRET CIRCLE and HEART OF DIXIE might be on their way out on the CW. I do hope they reconsider. The Secret Circle has shown its more than just a teen show. Perhaps, we don't really care so much about mainstay Cassie's romance with Adam and how so many have to always be at Cassie's beckoning call. Still, the show has gathered some great guest stars. Even a tiny glimpse of tiny glimpse of Richard Harmon (His Ian is one witch hunter I want to see again). The show has scored big with Leigh (Damon Grey) and other bad boy Callum (Michael Graziadei). Also Chris Zylak is showing this dude can act! Also, we are getting fond of Faye(Phoebe Tonkin) and her many loves. This show has a lot to offer. I hope the CW sees that. If not, please some network pick this one up quick!

Personally, I want Tobey to come back to Spencer! I'm not sure I even care who A is, anymore.

Season finale of Pretty Little Liars is March 19. “It’s going to be the most intense episode we’ve ever had,” Janel Parrish (Mona on the show) says. “It’s going to be extremely scary and dark. There will be cliffhangers, as usual, to keep everyone guessing into season three. Questions will be answers, but new questions will also be raised.” Sounds like the writers are twisting it up more. This story won't be anything like the book. That seems to be the norm these days with shows that started in book series.

You light up my world
Shane Coffey

Elena hasn't gone vamp on Vampire Diaries as of yet. Also Sutton hasn't quite been killed off yet on The Lying Game, either. Even so many actors are reading where their characters came from. Troian Bellisario got her friend Shane Coffey into reading the Pretty Little Liar series. Now he's Holden on the show.

Joe Lando

The new trend on these teen shows is to bring in older viewers with faces our parents are familar with. Like having Chad Lowe as Aria's father on Pretty Little Liars. Now we get to see who Cassie's long lost father is on Secret Circle, Joe Lando who some will remember all the way back from Dr. Quinn. Oh, John Blackwell says he doesn't have any powers anymore, but he sure knows when to show up in a scene.

Chairlift

Caroline Polachek

CHAIRLIFT is electronic pop! This group is out of Brooklyn. They formed in 2005. The band consists of Aaron Pfenning (songwriting/vocals/electronics/guitar), Caroline Polachek (songwriting/vocals/tambourine/synthesizer) and Patrick Wimberly (drums/bass guitar/keyboard/production).-AMAZON

"On sophomore album Something, Chairlift holds tight to their origin as the bastard child of Enya and Tears for Fears—or, if you believe press releases, creators of music for haunted houses. This time, though, their musical pendulum has swung away from the Knife-like ambience of debut album Does You Inspire You, and closer to pure 1980s bliss. Call it “boombox outside the window” music for a new generation. (via Chairlift: Something (Columbia) | Under The Radar)"- Laura Studarus

"I got bruises on my knees for you, and grass stains on my knees for you. Got holes in my new jeans for you."-Bruises
