Pascal Comelade

I accidentally came across one of his free samplers on Amazon. It was brilliant. I have never heard jazz quite like this. Some might call it an alternative jazz or French Jazz. What ever, it has a unique essence to it. Very rich with a happy mood that might make you think of gypsies or party goers having a wonderful and sexy time in Paris. Who knows, one of his songs might provoke spontaneity..anywhere. And then it might be part of the soundtrack of your life. Oh, I know my imagination is possibly a little off kilter to everyone elses. But his sound can put a smile on your face.

He perhaps started with electronic music and yet he is king of the acoustic, bring in peculiar instruments to find a tune to, as well. Many of the instruments are just toys.

Comelade was born in Montpellier, France. He spent some time in Barcelona, as well, perhaps part of his musical journey. He has collaborated with many singers and musicians from diverse genres of music including Robert Wyatt, Dani, Faust, Christophe Miossec, Toti Soler, Jac Berrocal, Pierre Bastien and P.J. Harvey to mention just a few.
