Animal Collective
This band started out in Baltimore in 2000. Its referred to as an experimental band. They are now based out of New York City. Animal Collective consists of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb), and Geologist (Brian Weitz).
I loved their MY GIRLS in the opening scene of MTV's SKINS so I had to find out more about them. Perhaps being on the show's playlist will gather more growing interest. They have put together 8 recordings of their magical talents in the past decade. Their latest CD is Merriweather Post Pavilion. Its their longest recording since their debut. While putting this CD together, the group went about writing a new batch of songs to be played without guitar. Another unique thing the group did was set up its PA systems in the control room in an attempt to replicate the group's live sound. Really, they do offer an very tranquil yet monumental melody from their quirky ways of going about to find their sound.
