Fiction Tuesday - BAIT - book review

Alex Sanchez is always creating remarkable characters. This go around, he's bringing out a serious issue that isn't usually in his stories. Diego is one survivor. But he doesn't even know it.

No, from the outside he's just a punk kid to some. A real homophob, who gets in trouble with the law. Yet, he's an amazing big brother helping out at home with his little brother. He's smart. Loves the beach where he's grown most of his school years in Texas. And he just might be a Momma's boy...yet a big obstacles stand in the way. His step-father, and he's dead now.

Diego was born in Mexico and an American came to the rescue, marrying his mother. He looks like a real hero. Yet, his step-father committed suicide. There are secrets in his family, and Diego is making his own prison. He's a cutter, some of the time. It takes his probation officer to let Diego escape this world he's been sentenced too.

Yet Diego has questions about himself. He has typical heterosexual teenage boy feelings for Ariel, the girl who likes the creatures of the ocean as much as he does. And he wants to trust her, but can he trust himself? Can he trust his probation officer? After all, Diego doesn't want to turn out just like his PO, who's helping him..who so happens to have children with his male partner.

Tyler Posey

or Jonathan Castellanos from OFF THE MAP

I really think this would be a great movie for Tyler Posey to be in..of course. This story goes deep..a lot like the depth of an ocean where terror lies in the dark. But Diego could be his own worst enemy. I really fell in love with the emotion of this boy's story.

Alex Sanchez is a wonderful storyteller. Stories that might give someone hope who might be in the same situation as Diego.

  3. Really, wish Sanchez books were in movies. I'm a fan of Rainbow Boys..which was only filmed in another country and not in the States.
