Out of Auckland, New Zealand comes a five piece indie band(The Kiwi quintet). The band is made up of Thom Powers, Alisa Xayalith, Aaron Short, David Beadle and Jesse Wood. According to the Young Blood Songfacts, they took the name from a line in UK trip hop singer-songwriter Tricky’s track, Tricky Kid.
They formed in 2008. Their debut was “Passive Me, Aggressive You”. The single “Young Blood” debuted at number one on the New Zealand chart - the first New Zealand artist to do so in three years!
They have a noise that just conjures up a certain excitement when you listen to them. They most definitely need to be on more soundtracks of movies and TV shows. Their electro-pop is very danceable.
“Punching In a Dream” appeared in the TV show The Vampire Diaries. Similarly, the track “Young Blood” from Passive Me, Aggressive You has appeared television shows Chuck, Gossip Girl, Covert Affairs, and in the Disney film, Prom.

ReplyDeleteI love this band! I first found out about them from an iTunes free download of Young Blood. I didn't know they were from New Zealand! That kinda makes me love them even more. :)
