11.11.11

Its a strange day for some. The heavens might open up. But for some us, its a day when a lot of movies are coming out.

THE IMMORTALS: Henry Cavill has finally arrived. He was the inspiration for "Edward" in Twilight..or so I've heard many moons ago. He plays Theseus a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity. Its got block buster special effect. Lets hope it the kind of affect that viewers are lingering for...and have been since 300.

J. Edgar: This might be our first Oscar film off and running. Staring in this bio is none other than Leo DiCapri who always gives us sensational characters we so love to see. It doesn't hurt that this is a Clint Eastwood film too.

Melancholia: Nothing like having a sci-fi flick about two sisters who find their already strained relationship challenged as a mysterious new planet threatens to collide into the Earth. The movie stars Kirsten Dunst and Keifer Sutherland. Brady Corbet also starts in this drama.

Jack & Jill: Just what we needed in all this list..Adam Sandler playing a drag queen in his 40's. Oh, its just fun for the holidays. Nothing like Katie Holmes playing the wife.

London Boulevard: More competition for a crime/drama/romance/thriller. This time around with Colin Ferrell and a very sophisticated Keira Knightley. An ex-con hired to look after a reclusive young actress finds himself falling in love, which puts him in direct confrontation with one of London's most vicious gangsters. This film was actually made in 2010, but hey..we finally get to see it.

Into the Abyss: This is a documentary. It might be up for some sort of Oscar. Its a Werner Herzog's film. Conversations death row inmate Michael Perry and those affected by his crime serve as an examination of why people - and the state - kill.

11-11-11:  And why not? A horror film dedicated to this day. After his death of his wife and child, an author travels to Barcelona to see his estranged brother and dying father, where he learns that his life is plagued by events that occur on 11/11/11. Its a Darren Lynn Bousman's film. So it could be a hit or a miss. You just never know.
