Immortals - movie review

I have been waiting for this film. When I'd see the preview at the theater, I knew I wanted to see it. Kind of. But then I thought how much my brother loved 300 and well, I just didn't get that movie like he did.

Granted, this is very much a guy film. Its got grit, war scenes to great magnitudes, and some pretty creepy characters. Micky Rourke being the wickedly evil King Hyperion ready to take over all the world. He does create quite a character in such a dark art form.

What is kind of interesting is to see the wonderful Joseph Morgan as the defector Lysander under the king's spell. I guess you could call him the kings' bitch, after awhile. Morgan plays the fabulously wicked Klaus on VAMPIRE DIARIES so it is fun to see him play such a different character.

Of course, we have a hero in this story. A beautiful Henry Cavill aged and seasoned actor who I'm glad is getting more parts now in Hollywood (He's the new Clark Kent!). This Thesus shows a genuine hero..even when he doesn't know it. Add a high priestess virgin with visions played by the amazing Freida Pinto and you have a great movie to watch.

Really, this is a story of no laughing matter like those before it. Lets say Alexander and Troy with all star cast. No, this film has a bite to it. Of course, the blood and guts of it might not be for everyone. Yet, the gods are yummy! Zeus played by handsome Luke Evans and a brooding Posiden who I have to say..Kellan Lutz needed more lines. But obviously, sweet eye-candy.

This story has the creepy titans waiting in their cube. There is such a beastly aspect to this film, and Rourke's voice has a certain horror to it that you find a such honesty in.

This film has such a certain darkness to it. Yet, I'm happy I watched it in 3D!

STORYLINE:Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares. Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king's hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man's conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion...until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope. Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes..

  2. Oh I love Joseph Morgan in TVD! He's so bad but also passionate and emotional. This isn't the sort of movie I watch but the actors are an interesting bunch!
