Fiction Tuesday- Georgette Heyer
If you love your Regency romance and mysteries, then I'm sure you have heard of Georgette Heyer. Perhaps she didn't live in the period of Jane Austen nor the Brontes, but she is the creator of what we know as Regency Romance. If you are looking for a light-hearted, low-stress read, with charming characters and sex-free... then this is the author for you.
Her first novel was published in 1921. THE BLACK MOTH. Georgette was just 15 when she wrote it. And she had written it to entertain her convalescent brother. Her last book was MY LORD JOHN. She also wrote detective stories, too. She died in 1974.
“Miss Heyer has the delightful talent of blending humor with mystery.” Boston Evening Transcript”Heyer is an author to read—this means you!” New York Herald Tribune”
Miss Heyer’s characters and dialogue are an abiding delight to me… I have seldom met people to whom I have taken so violent a fancy from the word ‘Go.’” Dorothy L. Sayers
Have you read any of her work? What is your take on her writing?
