Five-Year Engagement

I always love to see what Jason Segel can come up with for a movie. Of course, this is more of a relationship movie and its journey, than anything else. It deals with what many couples deal with in this modern age. Who will compromise the most? While maybe the other feels they've done more for the relationship than the other. And with our brutal economy these days, many couples are having to go that extra mile. Even long distance relationships.

Chris Pratt will be a daddy soon.

Its a quirky movie. Of course, Chris Pratt steals show as (Segel) Tom's best friend.

Tom is a chef while Emily Blunt's character Violet is really into psychology. And to help her career the two move to a very cold Michigan to put their marriage on hold. Meanwhile, Tom's best friend gets Violet's sister pregnant and soon enough those two are marriage.

Basically, the theme of the film is Should I stay or Should I go. Although, I do feel Tom did his best to make do in Michigan while Violet got along with her studies. Now you might not find this movie nearly as funny as some of Segel's other movies. And Segel's character never quite rises to the occasion as in Eric from Undeclared or Nick from Freaks & Geeks. Still there is definitely a tale here about modern love and I'm glad he was a part of it.

Phwoaaaaaaaaaaar, Rhys Ifans looked AMAZING in The Five Year Engagement-a.bitter.sweet.evocative.song

Another scene stealer in the movie who I thoroughly enjoyed is Rhys Ifans, who was unrecognizable as the hot yet geeky professor that Violet gets involved with.

Brie & Chris actually saved the movie for me.

Alison Brie as Violet's sister was quite the character too. And I loved the song she and Chris Pratt did at the end of the film.

There are a lot of fun parts in the film. It was quite the mature story, and hopefully you'll get the doughnut logic in the film.

PREMISE: Exactly one year after Tom Solomon meets Violet Barnes, he surprises her with a ring. By all accounts, Tom and Violet are destined for their happily ever after. However, this engaged couple just keep getting tripped up on the long walk down the aisle.
