Sparkle

Sparkle was such a great movie! The cast and crew was AMAZING! Everyone should see it. DON’T even get me started on the fashion. Serious shout out to the stylist on set. All the outfits were SUPERB!-fleshlikefire

If you've been waiting for a movie that's Oscar worthy, well..here comes the first in the running. I know, you are probably thinking DREAM GIRLS. And that's all right, but I gotta say, I thought it was far better than DREAM GIRLS.

“Every morning when she would come in, she would put her iPod on the little speaker and she would blast gospel music … she was one of us.   She was so fun.  She wasn’t this person who was like, ‘Okay, I’m gonna do my scenes and now I’m gonna leave. She wanted to sit with us and she wanted to chill with us.”  —  Jordin Sparks recalls moments with Whitney Houston on the set of ”Sparkle”

You've got a great cast. A solid story about life in the 60's in Detroit. Although, the story might be far from the riots at that time (there are mention of them). It is time when Motown was brewing, perhaps African American girl groups were a dime a dozen, but here comes Sister and her Sisters.

The movie have a kind of playlist you can keep listening to long after the show is over. And think retro, from costumes, to the feel of this movie.

Maybe, Whitney Houston was not enough in this movie, but when she was in a scene she stole it beautifully.

Carmen Ejogo as lead singer Sister who knew how to flaunt it!

I gotta say, I thought I had this story figured out, but it took a different turn, and I'm glad it did. Jordin Sparks shows she is a powerhouse. I loved Tika Sumpters' hairstyles. Carmen Ejogo who plays the lead singer in the group sizzled on the stage too.

The movie is packed with music, yet the story moves steady along. There is Derek Luke as their manager Stix who did such an exceptional performance as Sparkle's love interest. The wonderful Omari Hardwick plays the hard working fellow who wants to win Sister's heart. And Mike Epps is Satin who woos the lead singer performer into a better life. Maybe.

You have to see #SPARKLE!!! Whitney took us to church!!-stacey
“I decided long ago never to walk in anyone’s shadow; if I fail, or if I succeed at least I did as I believe.” - Whitney Houston

There are some amazing songs in this film as well as performances. Honestly, Whitney's solo was a beautiful moment. It was great how the movie ended and shows Jordin Sparks has the talent and the dazzle to be looked up too.

STORYLINE: Set in the 1960s, three sisters form girl group and soon become Motown sensations, but fame becomes a challenge as the close-knit family begins to fall apart.
