Fiction Tuesday - Flirting in Italian

Book Description: Four girls. One magical, and possibly dangerous Italian summer. Family mysteries, ancient castles, long hot nights of dancing under the stars . . . and, of course, plenty of gorgeous Italian boys!

“For a split second, his finger touches my skin, and he might as well have brushed me with a lit match.”

Possibly, this book is no SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS kind of feel to it. Yet, if you are looking for a getaway book and some fun and adventure this just might be the one to take you there.

The premise of this novel is too delicious to miss out on. The romantic countryside of Tuscany, a lovely fourteenth-century villa (with a swimming pool!), and two months of learning Italian, participating in art tours, watercolour painting and ballroom dancing - how could you possibly say no to all that? I enjoyed the setting of this novel and thought that Lauren Henderson managed to capture both the unique atmosphere of Italy, and the temperamental nature of Italians really well.-evie

For one, I couldn't connect with the supposed love interest, Luca. Luca was a bit of a jerk, one that Violet, our intrepid traveler, likes and then doesn't like, likes and then realizes he's a jerk (but he's sooo cute!). *snore* Then came the mystery. It was a great set-up: Violet sees a painting in a museum that looks exactly like her. I'd be intrigued, too! After some research, she decides to find out the truth behind the painting and who the girl is. Cool, huh? Well, it was pretty good but the ending was a bit too cliched for me.-mary

And, okay, let's talk about what you're all thinking: the "gorgeous Italian boys" mentioned in the blurb. Yes, there are boys. LOTS of boys, some that have names and others that don't. The four girls are basically like boy magnets because they're foreign, so there is lots of flirting and lots of partying. And it was flipping awesome!-onepagereview
