Stealing Sheep

Liverpool trio Stealing Sheep comprised Emily Lansley (guitar, vocals), Rebecca Hawley (keys, vocals) and Lucy Mercer (percussion, vocals) who met during 2010 and then formed the band in the city over a cup of tea at the Mello Mello cafĂ©. The group set about writing and rehearsing that summer and began to produce their haunting psych-folk sound, drenched with otherworldly harmonies, jaunty guitars, and almost tribal, hypnotic beats. With a handful of songs written, the band launched into recording what would become their debut EP, What if the Lights Went Out. They found help in first-time producer Joe Wills, who set up in a school in Troxteth, Liverpool to record the band’s early compositions. Wills’ valuable input encouraged some experimental techniques and ultimately helped mold their diverse sound.

There is something so nostalgic about their harmonies. Really, love the whimsical side of their music. Its something to get you smiling..yet at the same time, a bit melancholy too.

I am not sure how or where I first heard of Stealing Sheep but I am glad I did. Having been listening to the debut album ‘Into the Diamond Sun’ daily for the last week I now want to make sure everyone else does too.-The Lions Share

Stealing Sheep are just amazing, so in love with their debut album Into the Diamond Sun right now. I’m learning this by-ear on the keyboard because it’s one of my favourites on the album (saying that, there is at least half of the album that is even more amazing than this). They’re doing some gigs all around the UK over the next couple of months, I’m definitely going to have to see them live!-nogood
