Hitchcock

Its been said Hitchcock is not a bio pic. Instead, its a movie about Hitchcock(Anthony Hopkins) and the long love affair with his wife Alma (Helen Mirren) and the film Psycho.

"Its Hitchcock, hold the cock"- Hitchcock

The story starts in 1959 and Hitchcock is afraid he's stuck, making the same kind of films. At least he has his television show. Of course, this is a time where the film studios were very strict about what was to be seen in movies, too.

Nothing like the wickedness that Wincott can so uncanny play. He was definitely a very scary Ed Gein who seemed to have a personal friendship with Hitch. At least, in Hitch's head.

Yet, Hitchcock was motivated when he read the true-life book about the real psycho, Ed Gein played by the creepy Michael Wincott. This is the psycho who gets in Hitchcock's head.

There is something so very Victorian about Hitchcock yet translates into modern times. Alma was definitely Hitchcock's backbone. Her creativity a marketing skills definitely helped the film. We see Hitchcock's obession with the blonde bombshell. And his oh so very interesting relationship with Vera Miles played by Jessica Beil.

A nostalgic performances from Scarlett Johansen as Janet Lee.

Also James D' Arcy made a remarkable Anthony Perkins.

This movie was a lot of fun and definitely surprisingly shocking in parts. There is definitely an Oscar buzz for Mirren's performance as Alma. Its also a unique look how films were pieced together at that time and how Hithcock's creativity worked and how he felt being snubbed by the Oscars so many time.

If you are looking for something different to watch this Holiday season at the box office, this is definitely a film worth taking a gander at.

STORYLINE: A love story between influential filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock and wife Alma Reville during the filming of Psycho in 1959.
