Alter Egos

STORYLINE: At a time when superheroes have lost government funding and public support, a superhero meets a girl who can help him overcome his own emotional crisis.

First off, I've love Chris Lemke ever since Ginger Snaps. He was also a one shot moment on Joan of Arcadia at the very beginning of the show. Thinking back now, the show might have lasted longer if he could have played GOD in more episodes.

Still, this indie flick is gold when it comes to writing and acting. Such interesting character development for the main character of Chris', he just wants to be himself. But it gets complicated when his girlfriend would rather be with his alter ego Fridge instead of him. Work in the bigger picture of the Super Hero corp and other wannabe superheros, and its life on the rocks.

So hear we have Fridge stuck in his baby blue suit, on his way to help C-thru at an out of the way motel..and he meets someone who hates Superheros. But the girl (Brooke Nevin) at the desk, who oddly reminded me so much of Anna Silk from LOST GIRL, has some troubles of her own. Danny Masterson plays not so good cop, Jimmy who can turn invisible for about 2 second which is not enough for him to score Super Human status with the Corp. So he's a little dysfunctional and married too.

At first I was certain it was a rather silly spoof, but once I got into the movie, I found it a pleasant surprise. The characters were complex yet so relate-able. And it was good to see Masterson playing a complicated bad guy.

A movie with plenty of twist and fun turns.
