Oz the Great and Powerful

I live in Wonderland

STORYLINE: Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. At first he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking. That all changes, however, when he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

As a prequel would go, this is all about Oz and who lives in Oz. Its a great way to spend a cloudy afternoon at the theater. Its a two hour movie with lots to offer in 3D glory. Many sights in the grandeur of Fantasia.

Some one is in love with a guy who only has a bag of tricks. That's what happens when you're lonely in Oz.

Zach Graff was delightful in his part. I loved the banter between his characters and James Franco.

Naturally, the movie starts off in black and white of 1905 based on L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. We learn what a con-man Oscar Diggs can be in Kansas. And what better way to get to Oz than through a tornado. Unfortunately, Oz still can't see his true colors in the vivid Oz, and neither can Theodora. History repeats its self, as usual. Something, Oz is used too, on the run from yet doesn't see coming... A jilted love.

I was impressed at Franco's ability to hold on to this character Oz. He was so animated in this movie. The whole cast is very bright in this legendary story.

Michelle Williams as Glinda the good witch was perfect. I love how she had so much faith in the wizard even if she knew his true colors.
Bruce Campbell as the winkie guard.

  4. I am so back and forth on this, some people said it was good, others said it was garbage. I will have to decide for myself.

  5. I saw this on Sunday, I'd probably give it 7/10 but I'm glad I went to see it - but I just wish some of the actors had a little more screen time!
