Definace

I think the show is finding its way on SyFy network. Granted it has lots of characters to follow. I'm glad we aren't seeing them all each week. Still, I'd rather hone in on a few than the a whole bunch of different aliens..and their families.

song you sing

That part is complicated because I'm not  nerdy enough to catch all the names of the kind of people certain breeds are. Yet, I'm finding how certain aliens have more than a prominent look. Some see a whole new way of life.

I can't hardly wait for this character!

And oh how the future has changed, yet some things haven't. Although, I'd love to see more steampunk ways, and we are seeing more of that style in the show from the variety of characters. Naturally, the show has that 'wild wild west' feel to it. There are the whore houses. The rich families and then those who are scraping by.

I'm hoping he goes for Amanda the mayor (at least the last episode) defiancegirl

Oddly, I'm not all that impressed with Jeb Nolan (Grant Bowler). I guess he's a little Matt Dillon yet quite the ladies man. Honestly, what would be quite amusing if he ends up with both sisters. Of course, he's a man who doesn't believe in marriage, anyway, but in this "era" group marriage is OK. His character seems to have such a good comradeship with the mayor played by Julie Benz yet his character generally visits her sister Kenya (Mia Kirshner) at the whore house.

the good twin sister
My favorite character on the show is Stephanie Leonidas as Irisa who is Nolan's adopted daughter. She is Irathient who has special abilities that she thought were just seizures all these years instead of visions.

There is the Castithan to deal with who come off plenty of arrogant and possibly not on the up and up. They are rather albino like. Jamie Murray and Tony Curran are the Tarr family and they have Alek played by Jesse Rath. Thankfully, the past episode he runs his own radio station. I was afraid he'd have nothing to do. With this family they have a rather Romeo and Juliet thing going with another rich mining family The McCawleys. Graham Greene plays Rafe and his daughter Christie (Nicole Munoz) is in love with Alak. Hopefully, there is a marriage in the near future...unless the families kill each other first.

The show has plenty of special effects, but the real reason to watch it ..is for the stories and the characters.

Some may have had a hard time warming up to the show in the first couple of episodes. One of my friends couldn't stand the first 15 minutes of it, but I found it very action packed. Still, the show needs to tap in to the real villain  of the show. Possibly, we know. Although, I'm beginning to wonder if the writers know.

The show if quite epic. Hopefully, they'll give us more twists and turns and some great lines we can't help but smile about.

At the moment, many of us are happy that Irisa and Tommy (Dewshane Williams) have hooked up.  Both or deputies, so one has to wonder how their work relationship will be. Also Nolan is their boss. I'd like to see the Tarr people get a little more wicked. Alak definitely needs more of a backbone. And is he truly in love with Christie?

I got in my head there would be a lesbian storyline between the mayor and Stahma Tarr, but I'm beginning to think I imagined that. Still that might send Stahma to all sorts of peril.

The show does have my interest. Hopefully, each episode will get better and better.

STORYLINE: The series is set in the near future, where aliens known collectively as Votans have come to Earth seeking a new home after their solar system was destroyed. However, when they reached Earth, they discovered despite a prolonged negotiation with the government on Earth, they were not welcome. Rather than turn away, they began a war with the humans as they are determined to make Earth their new home. During the war, the Votans drop terraformers on the planet and transform the surface of the planet; scorching the earth, opening chasms in the ground and covering the surface of the planet in dust and debris. After decades of war, a ceasefire is declared when both sides realise they must focus on survival on this new almost alien planet. The series largely revolves around the character of Jeb Nolan. Jeb was only ten years old when the Votans arrived and he served in the military during the war. With the war now over, he returns to his hometown of St Louis to find it's is no longer the city he left; it is little more than refugee camp. Deciding his services are needed, Jeb takes up a position as the Chief Lawkeeper in Defiance, so he can protect the town from dangerous clashes between humans, aliens, military scavengers and other dangerous visitors who occasionally enter the town
