LOL

STORYLINE: In a world connected by YouTube, iTunes, and Facebook, Lola and her friends navigate the peer pressures of high school romance and friendship while dodging their sometimes overbearing and confused parents. When Lola's mom, Anne, "accidentally" reads her teenage daughter's racy journal, she realizes just how wide their communication gap has grown. Through hilarious and heartfelt moments between mother and daughter, LOL is a fresh coming-of-age story for modern times.

I have to say, I felt this movie worked a little too hard to be an indie movie. After all, it has such a great cast and also about privileged New Yorkers (at least it felt that way..however the movie is set in Chicago, but was mostly filmed in Detroit..go figure).

Still something just didn't mesh. I wasn't quite sold on the unconventional mother daughter relationship between Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. One sounds like a hick and the other sounds like a true blue New Yorker.

Naturally, there is plenty of eye candy to go around with Douglas Booth and George Finn. There is even the mysterious Ashley Greene who wasn't used enough in the story.

There were parts I found intriguing. I thought the school was cool and the girlfriend friendships were sweet and true. But there were some disgusting moments too. Unfortunately, Adam Sevani was at the helm. And I love this guy. I wished they could have toned some parts down.  Also the restroom situations. I found it hard to believe that guys and girls are always in the restroom together. I dunno if I'm really in favor of that trend.

Yes, I love the theme of did she or didn't she? And the lengths of Miley's Lola goes to ..to have new experiences in life. And it was good to find an old fashioned aspect of the story too. As in coming to conclusions before you get all your facts.

I felt Douglas Booth's Kyle was compelling too. I wished we'd seen more of his home life. And more of his friendship with Georg Finn's Chad.

As the movie starts out Lola is with Chad and his best friend is Kyle, but Lola soon finds herself wanting more than being good friends with Kyle and when she finds out a few things about Chad..things start to tumble.

So the film will draw you in. You do want to know what will happen. Especially, when these classmates take a trip to France.

Its the kind of movie you hate to love, but you just might find yourself enjoying this movie more than you thought you would.
If nothing else..there is Douglass Booth to fall in love with.
