Ender's Game

For the most part this is one film that follows the book pretty well. The theme takes the bully effect to a whole new level. And of course, there is a wonderful cast to back it up.

Asa Butterfield was a wonderful Ender Wiggin. Butterfield has such an expressive face and of course those amazing blue eyes of his. It was great to see Harrison Ford in a sci- fi film and this definitely had a unique and real sci-fi feel to it.

I loved it! I haven’t read the book in a long time, but I know there were a few things they left out - for instance, we only see a couple of Battle School games in the movie, and he’s only in 2 armies (Salamander and Dragon). Regardless, they kept in the important ideas and themes, all the acting was spot on, the graphics were beautiful, and overall it did a great job of representing an excellent novel.-Scout

Abagail Breslin played his sister Valentine and Hailee Steinfeld played Petra. Both had such strong roles it was great to see them in action. Also Viola Davis played one of the mentors role that was there for Ender emotionally as he makes his way from someone being bullied to being a leader.

“In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. I think it’s impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves. And then, in that very moment when I love them…. I destroy them.”

Andrew Ender Wiggin

Naturally, the film has its high tech aspect of it. But there is plenty of teamwork in the film, as well.

STORYLINE: The Earth was ravaged by the Formics, an alien race seemingly determined to destroy humanity. Seventy years later, the people of Earth remain banded together to prevent their own annihilation from this technologically superior alien species. Ender Wiggin, a quiet but brilliant boy, may become the savior of the human race. He is separated from his beloved sister and his terrifying brother and brought to battle school in orbit around earth. He will be tested and honed into an empathetic killer who begins to despise what he does as he learns to fight in hopes of saving Earth and his family.

CONTROVERSY: Homophobic author Orson Scott Card won’t be making money off Ender’s Game ticket sales, reports The Wrap, meaning planned boycotts of the movie may be misguided.

Gay and lesbian activist groups angered by the author’s public remarks against same-sex marriage have been calling for a boycott of the upcoming film. But the author’s payout was arranged ten years ago, sources told the entertainment blog, and includes no “escalators,” or bonuses tied to box office sales.…

"Orson Scott Card is a homophobe so I am not seeing Ender’s Game."

What if I told you there is at least one shitty person involved with every movie ever made? Because there is. But there are a lot of good people too and Ender’s Game has always had an excellent message since Card wrote the novel. Stop bitching and find something else to boycott.-airportzombie

  2. Me, either. When I think of the message of the movie..I thought he wouldn't be like that.
