This just might be the most important book you read this year. You might find it in the YA section at the library or even at the book store, but it is Malala's story of what she's been through.

"I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban" is moving and a serious wake up call.-Whatever

On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she was fifteen, she almost paid the ultimate price. She was shot in the head at point-blank range while riding the bus home from school, and few expected her to survive.

Instead, Malala's miraculous recovery has taken her on an extraordinary journey from a remote valley in northern Pakistan to the halls of the United Nations in New York. At sixteen, she has become a global symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest nominee ever for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I AM MALALA is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girls' education, of a father who, himself a school owner, championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school, and of brave parents who have a fierce love for their daughter in a society that prizes sons.

I AM MALALA will make you believe in the power of one person's voice to inspire change in the world.

Guys! I just finished reading the autobiography I Am Malala. and I can’t express enough how important this book is. I think everyone needs to read it. In case you don’t know, Malala is this amazing young girl (currently 16) from a small village in Pakistan. Her father was very big on everyone’s right to an education so he opened his own school, luckily Malala and many young girls in their village were able to attend school. With the Taliban around it was very dangerous for everyone in Pakistan, people were being publicly murdered daily because the Taliban didn’t like them. The Taliban enforced horribly cruel rules (an example is that they don’t believe women should be educated) and believed non-Muslin ideas even though they claimed to be the most Muslim; and the Pakistan government and military could do nothing against the Taliban. By the age of 11 Malala went with her father to many education conferences and spoke up for everyone’s right to an education, by such a young age she had already done so much for her country. But at the age of 15 she has shot and almost died for how widely popular she was becoming in her campaign for women’s rights to education. Luckily she survived and it has only made her stronger and able to get the word out around the world more easily. Seriously guys, she is my hero. Go read this book, it will change your life. (below is my review i posted on Goodreads when I finished reading it like 5 mins ago) (also if you don’t use Goodreads, go check them out and do that now, it’s amazing)-allison
