I feel certain now it was Shana Feste who saved this film. She is the director and screenplay writer of the new Endless Love. Sure its based on Scott Spencer's story. Although, Spencer's story was definitely written for the 60's. Not now. I've read that Spencer is trashing this new version.
A beautiful boy by the name of James Spader played Keith Butterfield in the 1981 version. This might be the only reason why I'd want to watch the original now.
Rhys Wakefiled plays Keith in the 2014 version. I will say it might have been a better storyline for him if it had been a gay storyline.
I loved Feste's work for the most part in Country Strong. I didn't love all of her characters, but in this film I found the whole cast of characters to be perfect and the actors played their parts well. There was so much the movie had going for it. The music was perfectly cued. There was a certain loss and strife that gave the story hope.
There will be those who will hate every bit of this movie and their are the romantics who will hope to have a relationship like this in the future.
Actually, it started out a bit like the beginning of Felicity, but then it went in the opposite direction as to how Jade and David met after high school graduation. Of course, he knew her, watched her from afar and yet he wasn't a stalker..this around.
But of course, he is a bad boy. Spent time in juvie and sometimes risky, even at his job, but still David is a loving son and loves Jade's family too. And nothing can keep Jade and David apart. Not even a control freak of a Dad who is still morning the loss of his oldest son. Even so, David accidentally finds out her father's secret even if he is doing his best to show Jade what a loser David is.
Yes, there is more to the movie than one romantic scene after another. Truly, you saw two people enjoying life together. I'm sure it'll be one movie you'll find close to someone's favorite things some time soon. It was great to see the story could be redone heartfelt and real.
Wow…Endless Love was such an amazing movie. The story was so beautifully written which such great characters. Oh man…I fell in love with Alex Pettyfer all over again! He really upped his game in his acting! I truly felt the love David had for Jade. People, please go see this movie, it really set the bar for all other romance films. It really is NOW my favourite. It is waayyyy more than a love story between David and Jade, his love inspired, and fixed those around him. -the Dr.
