Now is Good

This movie caught me off guard. It starts out, just a wee bit like Skins. What do you know there is Kaya Scodelario (Effy from Skins) as Zoey, Dakota Fanning's Tessa's bestie. And Tessa is up to most things girls her age are up too in her UK life. Except for one thing..Tessa is dying of leukemia. The movie is based on Jenny Downham's novel.

Tessa has stopped treatments. After all, she has a bucket list to get too. One of those is losing her virginity. Now saying that you are probably thinking..NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE. It doesn't exactly turn out like she has it planned. Instead, she finds a neighbor who's burning trash in his garden and splendid friendship grows.

It’s a terrible day in a man’s life when his daughter brings a boy home. I always thought if I killed the first one that word would get out.
— Tessa’s dad to Adam, Now is Good

Jeremy Irvine plays Adam who has gone through a death already with his father. He's not quite sure what to make of Tessa. He might be her rescuer.

Tessa gets in her srapes with Zooey who ends up pregnant. Naturally, Zooey knows her boyfried Joe Cole is a player and knows it would be best if she gets an abortion, but Tessa soon changes her mind about that. Besides, as Tessa puts it, it gives her something to look forward too.

I loved that Dakota used a British accent. I don't think of the film as Nicholas Sparks fix. I felt is was very real how her family dealt with her illness. Paddy Consodine was great as her Dad, who was there for her while her mother, a blonde Olivia Williams could hardly be around her ill daughter.

Moments. Life is a series of moments. Let them go. Let them all go.

Yes, its packed with emotions, but the cast was really extraordinary. I loved the soundtrack too!

Being with you, being with you, being with you. Just being with you.

STORYLINE: A girl dying of leukemia compiles a list of things she'd like to do before passing away. Topping the list is her desire to lose her virginity.
