Tracks

The question ‘why’ is always asked. There’s sort of bafflement as to why I would do it. And my feeling is that if I’d been a bloke, that question wouldn’t have been asked, or it would have been asked differently. So, I think there is still this sense of a woman doing anything out of the ordinary demands explanation.
— Robyn Davidson, author of the book Tracks

Oh, it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you love nature and nonfiction on the screen...you are sure to want to watch this wonderful movie out of Australia about the real Robin Davidson who made her way from Alice Springs to the Indian Ocean in 1977. It stars Mia Wasikowska as Robin and Adam Driver as Rick the photographer who helps her along the way.

Davidson loves animals and Rick is smitten by this distant creature from the get go. It is quite a journey she takes and we are there every step of the way.
Animal lovers, especially female ones are often accused of being neurotic and unable to relate successfully to other human beings. More often than not, those pointing the finger have never had a pet. It seems to me the universe gave us three things to make life bearable. Hope, jokes, and dogs. The greatest of these gifts was dogs.
— Robyn Davidson - “Tracks”

I didn't think I would enjoy this film as much as I did, but I'm very glad I found it on NETFLIX.
