Like a Ray of Sunshine

Like a ray of sunshine

He really hated to admit it, but he liked her a lot.

Perhaps it was the idea of wishing he could look at life like she did.

Of course, he was in a serious relationship when they met. After all, Nella was his best friend's little sister.

"What are the odds?" Nella asked one day when he caught the bus with her. "You've got a car. What are you doing here?"

He couldn't come out and say he was afraid of these cold grey streets, and he was stuck in a humdrum life at the office.

"My car's in the shop." He lied. He didn't tell her he'd noticed her on the street first. After all, she might think he was a stalker.

But they went on their merry way into the sunlight of the new day.

"Tell me, Izzy what kind of music are listening too, these days?" Her smile was dazzling, and he knew he couldn't keep up with her, but it didn't matter.

"Not that crap, you listen too." He'd be snub. He didn't want her to know he was falling for her..and yet he realized she might be the only way to keep him young.

Just as he was about to cross his arms, she took his hand, and her middle finger touched the inside of his palm ever so delicate.

"I have read the future." She looked up at him with a smile.

"What?"

"You, will never make your mother happy." She laughed so softly.

He sighed. That was when he knew he wanted to spend more than a day with her.
