Living Together

Living Together

Mia forgot about the clothes in the dryer. Of course, Robby had been home all day, but that didn't mean he knew about the clothes.

Mia: They're wrinkled! (Mia pulls out one piece of clothing at a time.)
Mia: What have you been doing all day? (she looks at her boyfriend Robby, ever so serious. Robby is watching the news.)
Robby: Taxes. (he feels he might jump out of his skin. If they had a child, maybe..maybe they wouldn't have to pay the government this year, but its less than last year...because he's worked less this year.)
Mia: What? (Her voice snaps) I thought you took care of that weeks ago. How much are we getting back?
(Robby scratches the back of his head. Hesitates.)
Robby: We're not getting anything back.
(Mia's eyes are lit..as she swells a frown.)
Mia: You could have at least gotten my clothes out of the dryer. (She's been on her feet all day at the bank. Her lunch was lousy. The homemade walnut/date/coconut balls were soggy. Its only Thursday. She sighs.)
Robby: (Shrugs and looks at Mia) Its less than last year. (He pauses) Lets go out for Sushi.
(She gives him the eye, but he comes to her rescue ..as if he might fold her clothes, but kisses her forehead, instead.)
