Kaori & Ellie Part. 31

Kaori & Ellie prt. 31

Nico needed to face the fact. Ellie wasn't here anymore. Not a phone call. Nothing.

He didn't eat for the first few days. Yes, he was a sob tale, through and through. Only, Violet to cheer him up.

She was consistent, and a decent waitress, but he didn't really want to depend on her. Summer was near. A girl like her should be going places. She did have another year of high school.

Still, she insisted after work, for him to go out with her.

After all, she did love karaoke. It didn't do much for him.

"Why do you have to be in a bad mood, all the time?" Violet asked why couldn't he play along with all the old favorite songs. Maybe even make up a few of their own.

"I wish..." He hated to tell her..he wished he wasn't here in a room with lights spinning and words of a song on a TV screen. "I think..I might be sick."

"You, are not." She poked him in the chest with her index finger. She might as well have stabbed him with a sword. As usual, she always had a plan to make things better. She thought he needed ice cream.

Later, after looking at the streetlights of the tall buildings and making their way through the park, "You, really can't fix this," said Nico, who definitely wanted to be left alone.

"But I..I can't watch you like this. I really can't, without doing something." Violet was sincere, and he did feel a little sorry for her.

Nico shook his head. "You, should find someone, you're own age..and..I dunno, have fun."

"Don't you think, that's what Ellie is trying to tell you?" She wasn't quite in a pout, yet he found her words so hurtful.

For the first time, he felt so alone in the world and only one soul was hanging on to him by a thread, and her name was Violet.
