Kaori & Ellie prt. 29

Kaori & Ellie prt. 29

Kaori hadn't heard from Ellie in ages. She was so sure she'd never hear from her again, and then she showed up one Wednesday afternoon when Kaori was getting home from school.

"How did you even find the place?" Kaori was excited yet a bit upset, at the same time. Kaori wished her friend had told her she was coming. The place was not tidied up. She was doing well to keep her classroom together, but not the house.

Ellie promised her it was OK. It was a spur of the moment thing, it was spring break at her school. Ellie told her she wasn't expecting a party. Besides, it would be enough to spend a few days with her, even if Kaori was teaching. Ellie wanted to see where she worked and how life was in these parts.

"Not nearly as hectic." Kaori told her, as she did her best to make way for Ellie in her country home. The livingroom might have looked perfect, but there was dust. Kaori snarled her nose at the thought of Ellie having to see the grim. But Kaori kept smiling. After all, Ellie brought food.

"Did Nico make it?" Kaori eyed the dumplings.

Ellie, shook her head, no.

"When did.. you find time to cook?" Ellie had the week off from school.

"I didn't make them." Ellie told her.

"Oh?" What did this mean? Kaori was curious.

"A friend of mine, his mother has a dumpling shop." Ellie put the food away in Kaori's open kitchen that was part of the livingroom and dining area. "You know him, he's the counselor at the school. Min-ho."

Kaori stared at her blankly. This didn't sound right to her.

"You're friends with him?" Kaori winced. She remembered those two fussing. They wouldn't even stay in the breakroom without bickering about something.  Kaori was sure Ellie didn't like him.

Ellie sighed with almost a smile as she looked a way.

"Since you've been gone, who's there to talk, too?" Ellie finally said as she hugged herself.

Kaori wondered what else had been going on between Ellie and Min-ho.
