Manny & Wren
Wren wanted to be like anyone else. She really didn't want to tell Manny she came from money. But then again, he might have already figured it out. Still, he wasn't letting on about it. He excused himself as soon as he got her to the Noodle Shop. There she met Nico, Ellie's so-called little brother. Really, she didn't see the resemblance and he honestly didn't seem fond of her.
She met Violet who was just the opposite of Nico. She was full of smiles and showed her around and of course, where she would be staying. In the same room with Manny.
"But he'll be working when you're sleeping." Violet assured her she wouldn't see him that much. Wren nodded, thinking she did want to see him again. Was that so wrong? Especially, if they were sort of roommates.
"You know how it is," Violet smiled as if Wren must be used to tight places, especially in big cities like the one she came from.
"Uh-huh." Wren agreed, but no way would she let her parents know about the situation. They were happy she wanted to travel. Although, she knew none of her distant relatives since her family cut ties with them, decades ago. "Just let me help, if I can." Wren looked at her blankly, wondering if she would mess up. She'd never worked anywhere.
"Oh, you want to wait on tables?" Violet's cheerful smile made Wren cringed a little. Wren was not a people person.
"Um, maybe I should watch." She offered to clean tables and to wash dishes. Wasn't that the way it started? At the bottom?
"You wouldn't mind?" Violet told her that was a great offer. "We get busy, in summers, with cold dishes." She told her noodle soups were great in the winter, but now they made more salads and noodle salads as well.
Wren would do her best to be a help and not be a hindrance. Honestly, she'd always felt she was nothing like her family wanted her to be. She wasn't very outgoing. Yet, she was always quiet. Maybe this summer would be no different.

Hi, I love hearing from people.
