Trying to find out what I liked about you to begin with

It's the story of my life. You weren't in band. Although, I thought you should have been a theater kid. All that live-action you used to do in the hallway at school. Dang, if it didn't get me dancing too.

Yeap, some of the best of times making that crowded hallway our own stage. If it wasn't that, it was improv which is something I've never had a class in and I don't think you had one, either. Although, you were an understudy for that speech contest.

They never let you compete. Not after you did that full-blown bit on the word FUCK. Yes, you were banned from being a part of the team and yet you always rode the bus for those sort of things.

It was like you were your own worst enemy. Your parents were part of a strange religion. You usually had to go to church on Saturday night. Oh, if only they'd known you like I did.

A real pest.

You wrote about our fictional love life in my school yearbook. Ugh, so much explaining to do. Everyone wanted to know who Fernando was.

I didn't hear from you for the longest time, but you'd call ever so often while I was away at the University. You were supposed to be writing religious material and living in New York City. But I dunno if that's true or not.

Yeap, you always had a way to keep me guessing.

  1. I want to know so much more about this pair! This is my favorite part: "You wrote about our fictional love life in my school yearbook. Ugh, so much explaining to do. Everyone wanted to know who Fernando was." So funny, so weird, and so illustrative of their special bond.

After hearing that your Valentine's dance story was based on experience, I now can't help but wonder how many of your other stories are based on real life too, either yours or someone else's. They say that writers should write what they know, and it's really working for you!
