Now I know many savor going out on this holiday. To some, it means dressing up for the BIG DATE. While some of us will just settle for a box of chocolates we get the day after at the grocery store.
Living in the heartland is a bit unpredictable about the weather for the occasion. Yes, we spent big money for a steak and lobster meal once and went to the place during a blizzard. What were we thinking?
But as of late, I have just made some special treats at home. Recently, I made a yogurt cake. I had all the ingredients in the fridge so that was nice. Of course, it didn't look quite as spectacular as this, but we really enjoyed it. I can't say it's a cheesecake. It did call for a few eggs so it felt a bit more like a custard. It does have to cook a while, as well. I've made the skillet chocolate cake (during the pandemic) on the stovetop. Gotta say it is a winner at our house, but these days we will be doing good to have a chocolate mug cake for Valentine's Day. Oh, and I did get a bottle of red wine. I might need that too.
We might also spend the night watching Frazier too. I can't recall if I actually have a favorite Valentine's Day movie. We just go for the laughs these days.
Do you have a go-to movie on Valentine's Day?
Here's to treating yourself to something this V-Day. And it's always nice to tell someone how much you appreciate them..even a co-worker.
Name: Bexley Jakes
Age: 23
Where is she from: Bex is of Russian and Chinese descent but she comes from New Jersey. She always wanted to be a dancer on Broadway. At least she's gotten to Off-Off Broadway and she helps serve food at a retirement home three days a week.
Where we met: On a busy subway. Of all places. It was crowded. I was doing my best to ignore her, but I couldn't help myself. I thought she looked a bit undressed. Well, I wasn't a local. I was visiting my brother and he didn't have time for me so I was on my own in New York City. When I dropped my beg, she was kind enough to help me get my stuff back together and asked if I had time for an iced coffee with a stranger. Soon enough we were looking through old thrift places in practically the back alley. She showed me a place that still had Madonna's Levi jacket in the window. Oh, it was quite a day to get lost with Bexley.
What do you like about Bex: She had courage. I could see it in her determination. She takes care of herself. She's bold and I always find her inspiring. She's caring and funny. She brings sunshine on a rainy day. Perhaps she's a bit overprotective of me, but since I don't like NYC like she does I don't mind. Of course, others might find her cold and not part of the crowd. I don't really know what she saw in me. But I feel as if she is the one and we can get through the good times as well as the bad times.
Happy Valentine's Day!

DeleteJust a Frasier night here, but it was still fun!
DeleteYogurt cake and chocolate mug cake for V-day sounds delicious! My mom used to make a (no-bake) strawberry yogurt pie, and it was always so good. And Frasier's the icing on those cakes! The husband and I used to do dinner and a movie for V-day, but we haven't gone to the movies on that day in years. To a restaurant, either, actually, until this year, and even then we waited until the weekend. 🍰🎂💗
ReplyDeleteBexley sounds very cool. How could she not be, knowing just the right thrift shop to find Madonna's jacket?! 💖🖤🎵
