Yesterday was his birthday and we had our Seussathon at the library. Granted, it was smaller than some of our Seussathons in the past. Perhaps that was a good thing. A lot of popcorn and candy wrappers to clean up afterward. Still, this gave a photo op for many young families with their kids. A few from city hall read, as well as a fireman or two. If I hadn't been so busy at the desk and tagging I would have loved to have joined them.
Although, it was nothing like my own cherished moments with my mom when she read Dr. Seuss to me. His prose was packed with a punch when she read Cat in a Hat! Later, in a poetry interpretation contest in sixth grade I read And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street. It would be the start of many poetry interpretation events. And it became my favorite work of Dr. Seuss, as well.
