At Halloween a friend from a Writer's Group I go to gave me her broken Barbies. I found out they were from the 80's and her cousins had played with them quite a bit when she would baby sit them. She always wanted to discard them because the necks were broken. However, the bodies still looked in mint condition. And of course, that Barbie hair was well matted.
A few weeks ago, I had picked up two doll closets at Dollar General that I wanted to dress up for a customized Barbie doll for someone, and of course, one for myself. The closet came with a doll that has the present Barbie proto-type body. And they are made of a better quality than I expected.
Unfortunately, I could not put these Barbie heads on some Barbie bodies I have because the size of their head is different from the Barbies now. Thankfully, the head were easy to put on the doll bodies from my recent haul.
As my friend said, "Oh, now they are sisters again." She said she about to throw them away.
Barbie Sock Dress. I have been sewing by hand. My sewing machine is being a bear lately. It actually ate the other sock up and I don't know where it is in my sewing machine. It can be therapeutic to sew by hand..until you realize the sleeves are too tight! But this one came out fairly nice.
Barbie, the old and irreleastic image of a succesful woman:-)
