Or the OBX. Yes, if you are needing to warm up this winter, there is always Netflix's Outer Banks. The fourth season is the latest and the plan is to end it on the fifth season. If you love treasure hunts, redneck teens, the ocean, and people living on the bare essentials and sometimes baring it all..um, this might be the one.
Of course, cheaters are going to cheat. And the badest of all is the poor little rich boy Rafe played by Drew Starkey who possibly got most of his acting chops on SCREAM the TV series. Oh, he's a villain and very important to be one step ahead. He plays Sarah Cameron's older brother who of course, becomes the love of John B's life.
Rich Sarah is a Kook (the rich side). And I got to say they are a mean bunch. You definitely want to be on the Pogue side of things because the rich are pretty nasty in the Carolinas, evidently. I do wonder how the locals feel about this show.
Still, you have got boys without mothers, John B and JJ have a lot in common. And this gives us a restless energy. In the course of the show, you learn more about their fathers and this gives these two character. John B played by Chase Stokes is pretty in the most sun-bleached hair way. Honestly, I might not like him at all if he cleaned up. Still, I'm not impressed with him running on the beach. (Now if you want to watch someone run so eloquently it's Luca Pasqualino. I will always remember that scene-stealing moment of his on SKINS). Honestly, Chase needs more rom coms or spend some Wednesday nights on Chicago PD or whatever Chicago show it in on NBC. He needs to act to become versatile. There is the potential.
Out of the circle of friends, I find Pope played by J.D. to be the smartest one, perhaps. JJ played by Rudy Pankow has to be the craziest.
Now could the show be written better? Of course, it could. But it draws you in. It's the treasure that makes you want to see it through. Yet, I have to admit something that could be fixed in one episode might take all season to do (which is 10 episodes).
This gives you plenty of time to write fan fiction. Honestly, the show has left out the BL community. And many would love to see Pope and JJ hook up. I got a vibe that Sarah and Kie could be a thing, as well.
Still, the strongest of the group is the latecomer Cleo, who was just someone John B and Sara met on a boat one season. She is our Zena! Played by Carlacia Grant. I do look forward to seeing her in more film and TV. Florida born to a Caribbean mother and a Haitian father, she is the life of the show.
One last note..the best parts of the show do remind me of the C-Drama LOST TOMB series. Of course, in that group they have been hunting for antiquities for generations.
This sounds quite entertaining!
