August Microfiction

Words: Golden. The end. A new beginning

I had waited all summer for a golden tan, from long afternoons at the pool and weekends with my friends at the lake, making memories that would last a lifetime, like our days of summer filled with the scent of coconuts. However, the end came too soon before I could tell my besties how great it was to listen to their future goals, hoping to leave their juvenile thoughts behind. It was a new beginning for all of us in the fall. We would be going our separate ways to start our journey for our future lives. Still, it was a special time even if we didn't know these were the best days of our lives.

  2. Oh, I love this! You capture nostalgia so beautifully. It's funny, because I just finished reading -- and posting about -- Carley Fortune's One Golden Summer, which is about the magic of memories at the lake.

Speaking of the end of summer, that's so cool that your library is celebrating September as Mushroom Month! It's always nice to have something to look forward to. πŸ„πŸ“•πŸ“™πŸ“’πŸ“—πŸ“˜
