It was frustrating to reach Dakota. If only Ezra didn't have to work. It didn't help that some goth girl named Delia kept following him around. He thought her type was supposed to be aloof, but apparently not.
She smelled like a pleasant potion of patchouli and ylang ylang. Probably hiding the fact that she was a pothead.
"But I'm not," she said in the dark corner of nonfiction where. He looked at her blankly. Did she read minds, too?
That's when she told him that if he smelled skunk on someone, it was probably marijuana. Ezra nodded and went back to his cart of books. He would remain quiet and hoped to hear from Dakota soon. He wanted to call her so badly, but he knew it was against the rules. Libraries were meant to be quiet.
"What are you doing for Halloween?" Delia asked.
"Not much." This much was true.
"Then come out with me." She said ever so quaintly as her black lipstick began to smudge.
"Can't," he squinted a grin. "I gotta tight squeeze, you see."
"Yeah, right."
It sounded as if she didn't believe him, but he didn't care. Finally, his phone dinged in his back pocket. He held out his phone as if it might be a crucifix to ward off vamps like her. She gave him a nasty look as if he'd been warned. Delia hugged herself then and walked away.
He was happy to read that Dakota was home. Before he could text back, Han texted that he was waiting for him back at his place.
Ezra sighed and texted, "I met someone you'd love to meet."
"I'm coming to the library then." Han texted back.
"All righty then." Ezra smiled.
