Dakota hugged herself hard to keep from yelling at her step-brother, Cole. No way was she going to Ezra and expecting him to apologize. Cole needed this.
"You can't even take care of yourself. What makes you think that girl, Liz, can help you? She's actually working. You don't even care." Dakota was frustrated with this catastrophe. No way did she want to be her stepbrother's mother.
"I can't. I just can't." He shook his head no with his fat lip in a pout.
Her place, where she'd let him stay, was now trashed. Dakota gritted before she lashed out. "Just go! I want you out! You and Zeth can just go. Wherever, but I want you out of my apartment!"
"Now wait a minute," Cole looked at her blankly. "Zeth and I..we'll find something."
"Oh, really, and live in squaller, no doubt." Dakota could hardly breathe in here with the leftover fast food and beer cans. "You lost your job at the library."
"I know," he shrugged. "It just wasn't a good fit. It wasn't me."
"What is a good job for you?" She told him definitely not being a trashman. Her lips tightened as if she didn't know what she should do next. Maybe it was time to talk to the building manager about him.
"Just..just give us two weeks, OK?"
Dakota hated the idea.
"Well, you'd better get to cleaning, and clean up your act!" She demanding. "Or I'm calling somebody to evict you."
