The Words

This has to be the most over-hyped movie of the year. You would have thought the executive producer wouldn't have cast himself as one of the main stars of the movie.

Honestly...if the movie would have only been about an American born in London trying to learn French from his fabulous French girlfriend at the end of WW2 and trying to make a go of in Paris..this might have a very cool movie to watch. But instead we get 3 stories that never quite give us anything to savor.

Just think of the possibilities if it had been a French movie where Ben Barnes was trying to learn French. Honestly, I think he could have gotten it down splendid. I lived the phrases he tried. - ellie

We, as the movie goer, just might not get the big picture that the critics want us to get. Yet, we do see a very predictable movie. And some of us could hardly wait for the movie to be over. It sounded so promising. And there were some very talented people in this film. However, I don't feel this film is Oscar worthy. Nora Arnezeder (Celia) with Ben Barnes.

 I have never been more disappointed walking out of a theater than when I walked out of The Words. I thought it was going to be a poignant tale of a struggling novelist finally making it; which it was, to a point. The acting was good and the set was gorgeous but, ironically (because it’s about writing) there was absolutely no resolution; completely devoid of any rhyme or reason, really.-calligraphy on bones

The Words wants to make a deep emotional impact on the audience while pretentiously offering platitudes and romanticized cliches that are as flimsy as the paper each author uses to type his work -romanticized plagiarisms

Real life couple Brad and Zoe get to show their emotions. Saldana definitely did a wonderful job as being the special significant other.

 The Words is the first film from co-writers/co-directors Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal, whose only prior feature collaboration was (somewhat curiously) working together on the story for Tron: Legacy. With the possible exception of Wilde’s presence in both movies, The Words couldn’t be more different from the glowing sci-fi spectacle that cemented their partnership. A complex yet efficient and emotionally involving tale of a man trapped in a lie of his own making, it may be set in the haughty world of New York literati, but it explores a universal theme — the feeling that we were meant for something more than we’ve actually achieved, and that we haven’t lived up to our true potential.-all movie

STORYLINE:Layered romantic drama The Words follows young writer Rory Jansen who finally achieves long sought after literary success after publishing the next great American novel. There's only one catch - he didn't write it. As the past comes back to haunt him and his literary star continues to rise, Jansen is forced to confront the steep price that must be paid for stealing another man's work, and for placing ambition and success above life's most fundamental three words.
