Killing Them Softly

Its one of those movies you'll either love for the majestic dialog or you'll be so bored with this Jackie Cogan character of Brad Pitt's that you'll have to walk.

Killing Them Softly is kind of a slow burn, but it’s a good burn.-YellZombie 

This film tried to hard to be a complex film, the begging scene was excellent, but from after 20 minutes in I was bored and my mind was drifting, to many characters were introduced, and you couldn’t connect with anyone because they were all being killed off, and not in the good Hitchcock way, I am highly disappointed with this film, from a story line side. On the other side, the editing as camera placement was just amazing, it drew me in, it kept tensions high. The adaptation to a classic noir to a modern noir was very well done; including broad landscapes, violence, weapons, money and more importantly dark rainy weather.-Get to Bed Now

 Killing Them Softly is the stuff that cinematic dreams are made of. Written for the screen and directed by Andrew Dominik, it’s a crime drama unlike much of anything you’ve ever seen (and judging by the box-office, we won’t be seeing it again).-Brodie

The film is truly an expose’ on money and the American economy, just as Coppola’s Godfather series had a double meaning, often poking at the business of big industry and capitalism. Killing Them Softly is all at once incredibly relative, brutal, deliciously comically dark, and strong willed. This one is not for the dim-witted or squeamish.-Brodie 

This movie is extremely dialog heavy, but it’s really good dialog. Although there are large chunks of the movie where not a lot is happening, the dialog is good enough to keep you watching. The rare action scenes are short and very well done. And it goes without saying that the acting and directing are also good.-YellZombie
