STORYLINE: A long-divorced couple fakes being married as their family unites for a wedding. |
Don't go thinking you are seeing the sequel to
License to Wed. Its got a great cast, so you can only expect so much. And the movie doesn't come without controversy. Ben Barnes plays a Mexican. Oh, and there is Robert Dinero playing a sexy old fart.

Naturally, this movie capitalizes on Hollywood cliches for weddings, and Diane Keaton is always very Diane Keaton. We just love what she wears and hope we will all have her style one day. And be prepared, the new movie trend seems to be lets have a scene in the kitchen about oral sex. You know, sort of like that trend where we have to watch women pee in the bathroom. Still the movie has that intriguing dysfunctional family way. |
|
Add Topher Grace and Katherine Heigle as Ben's adoptive siblings and there is some fun to be had in the movie. |
|
“I’m pretty lucky with my family,” Barnes told
SheKnows when we chatted at the film’s press day in Los Angeles. “My mom
and dad are pretty special, pretty perfect. I definitely aspire to be
like them in every way. They are a nice example for me to never be able
to live up to… ever!”-Ben Barnes |

Susan Sarandan's Bebe was really the heart of the movie though. She was the woman who stuck by an alcoholic and raised his kids, while the ex-wife went off to discover herself. Naturally, we could see why she was vexed at this wedding. Truly, each actor did milk each scene for what it was worth. And of course we get a happy ending. |
|
Still the movie holds a certain nostalgia of new family values from the 70's that I feel certain Hollywood never wants to go away. |
