One of his latest films The Dramatist. |
Chances are you've seen this guy but you don't remember his name. There are many faces of Iain Glen and he has a way of making each role quite a character.
He's been in such films as Tomb Raider, The Iron Lady and Harry Brown.

He was the very controling Sir Richard Carlisle in Dowton Abbey. He was even in Dr. Who as Octavian. However, you might know him best as Jorah Mormont on Game of Thrones. Most recently he played Uncle Ralph in KICK-ASS 2. He definitely had his Jersey shore accent on in that role.
One of my favorite guest roles of his was in THE BORGIA (the European cousin of the BORGIAS..they are now calling it). He took on the role as the historical figure Girolamo Savonarola, the monk from Florence who's charisma started a whole Catholic movement against the Borgia Pope. He was fabulous in his part. The actor could truly convey the meaning of spiritual awareness. Also, he showed what torture the monk when through when the Pope and his people didn't agree with him.
Definitely, no stranger to stage. He got his start in Shakespeare and is still part of a steady stream of play productions through the year when he isn't off filming. |
His first TV guest spot was in Taggart back in 1986. He's from Edinburgh, Scotland.
