Isobelle Molloy as preteen Maleficent. |
Oh..what can I really say about this film. It is an Experience. The simple truth. I can't say that about many films. And Disney really out did themselves with the beauty of its creatures and life in the Moors.
Granted, this is the other side of the Sleeping Beauty story. All this time we thought how dark and evil this wicked witch must be. And to some, they weren't expecting to see a fairy. But hey, some of us have been educated by LOST GIRL these days. And who else could have played the part but the lovely Angelina Jolie.
Her presences is with such confidence and strength. And her character is so rich with beauty in light and darkness. And the story, oh my...no wonder her heart was full of hate.
While on the other hand there is Aurora Elle Faning who is full of happiness and in love with finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.
This truly is a fairy tale and yet it reflects what others have gone through the generations since the beginning of time with war and destruction.
Brenton Thwaites with his One Direction hair was pretty sweet! as Prince Phillip. |
Sharlto Copley plays Stefan who is the man made king because of what he brought the king. It was great seeing him in this type of leading male role. He definitely plays complex well.
Perhaps it is a dark film, but it definitely has a lot of heart. The movie has such a great cast and it was fine tuned so well as the story plays out. Love it!
STORYLINE: A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal - an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces a battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom - and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well.
