I've loved this director since District 9. Yes, he can create some gritty atmosphere, but a true storyteller too. This movie has a heart of gold..and you don't even see it coming. Of course, some of the rogue character look like something out of ROAD WARRIOR. There is also Dev Patel's Deon the creator of the robot who can really feel. Perhaps though, its Ninja and Yoloni who give Chappie a family, showing him the true hard knocks of a thugs' life. I have to admit I didn't know I'd love this movie so much, but truly the gem of the year in movies.
