LOCKDOWN DIARY

Oh, if the world wasn't so lonely, you know. Who knew LOCKDOWN could be so troubling. God, you'd think the world came to an end. Peeps, gathering at the pub right before leaving normal as if they had to get hitched to someone. You'd think if was a reality show and all tuned in. Disgusting really, finding the catch of the day. Makes me shiver in my boots. Something so today but thrown away tomorrow. Except, you'll be stuck with a certain someone...for ages! I might add. Is that really the way to go?

Well, I got my Tobey. And yeah, he might not be much to look at, but he's just as scrawny as those guys in a K-pop band. Except, he's in my class and maybe Irish. But he makes me smile, even in the distance. You know, like he might be a little goat and he doesn't know where to go.

Of course, I tell him what to do. He's my boyfriend. Somebody has to do it or he'd be a lost cause of a kite in a faraway place, probably snagged in the trees. I know my Tobey. I know he's not a fighter nor a footballer, but that's OK. I like having him at arms length, at best. Besides, we got revisions, and it's all on the right course, you know. Even the snogging is quite sensational taking us to realms only one can dream of. And I wouldn't just do that with anyone.

Except brother Maxie would not know this. Me thinks, he just has it out for my Tobey. I don't understand why. We are the best together. Brother needs to worry about his own life.

I tell you, Max is a looker and I'm proud to say he's my brother. But he's a bloke you know, not always thinking of himself, but of others. I know he doesn't look bad with that dark horse of a face of his. And yeah, he's fit. But that comes from running and helping with coaching the misfits at the center his day job.

Damn, I sometimes think he missed his calling. He should have been a priest, you know. Oh, he's one to hold out for love, I suppose. He could have his pick. But no, he stands on the outside looking in. Sometimes, I wonder if it's all beneath him.

Still, wish he'd stop worrying about me and the Tobes. We are just fine, you know. Real regular and all. I can't say we don't have our moments of friction. But in all, Tobes does listen to me. Has to, I'm his girl.

**********************************************

I have had a bit of a falling out with the RP. I realize now that we both have such different ideas where the story can go, but I have found that I respect "Maxie" and can't go where the other person wants me to go. I felt she is making him out to be a sleeze ball of some kind. Which he is not.

It's as if she's never had dinner with a character. I know that sounds a little mental. But for me, it's more than making a list of what this character is going to like and dislike. It's more of a notion to know who these people are. And listening to them.

Over the years, I hear conversations in my head and when I do write, I usually draw a little from the people I know as well..as if it's a fond memory we have shared. Although, I do like to see where a story will go and grow. I think of my stories as character-driven. Hopefully, I can continue this story. I have to admit I always found Maxie's little sister interesting. She is a part that keeps him in check of who he is, and as a big brother he does worry of her. Naturally, these are aspects the other RP player thinks is probably a waste of time. Yet, I found Baily and her boyfriend interesting.

  2. I like the way this starts, with the description of people scrambling to fall in love as if we're at war. And then the Tobey stuff flows so nicely. These are my favorite lines:

"You know, like he might be a little goat and he doesn't know where to go."

"Of course, I tell him what to do. He's my boyfriend. Somebody has to do it or he'd be a lost cause of a kite in a faraway place, probably snagged in the trees."

You have a whimsical way with words. Love it!
