Slater & Jay

Do you have any regrets about your childhood?

SLATER: I didn't have time for regret. Frankly, it's kind of a waste of time to worry about the past. It's the present that you need to get through. Of course, that's easier said than done, but I just did what I was told. I went to school. Although, I'm still not much of a reader. But I like people. I like working. (he nods) Anyway, you can't really choose your family. And well, they did the best they could. JAY: (he sighs) I know I wanted a family like everyone else. It just didn't happen that way. It was just me and my mom and yeah, there were some strange times (his smile is calm) But we survived. And I can only hope the future will get better..even if it's an extended one.

  4. Slater and Jay both have sad backstories. But they seem to have made them stronger. It's interesting that Slater offers that he's not a reader, then goes on to say that he likes people. It's like he's confirming what we all suspect (or maybe just what I suspect!) about the separation between introverts and extroverts. I also like that Vanna is in the collage. Her own troubled story is so intertwined with the lives of these two.

That's a bummer about Season 2 of Queen of Mystery. I know what you mean about bad stories making you question your own -- I do that too! -- but I think that it's the people who don't question themselves who are in trouble. You do a phenomenal job of juggling a huge cast of characters while staying true to each's voice. :)
