Oh, it's the first summer holiday here in the states. Of course, with horrific sadness and high prices of gas it just doesn't seem possible. But of course, we just keep going. Remember the farmer's market and of course, all those little shops that need your business on main street. But most of us are staying close to home. You just might have to visit your closet and see if you can find something to feel pretty in on a hot afternoon. Here's to making most of your summer at home.
This might be the year you start the jam jar. Which is just taking leftover fruit, peel it, cutting, microwaving a few minutes with sugar and some lemon juice (even a touch a vinegar can be used in a pinch..yeah, we live on the prairie and those lemons even get expensive...keep it in a mason jar and refrigerate it). It's nice on toast in the mornings.
Honestly, I don't go to so much trouble. I don't use sugar either nor condensed milk. I can brew it in my clever coffee dripper and that's enough for me. I will confess, I do like a wee bit of half-half in my cold brew.
Finally, a new look on lemons!
Oh, and lets not forget about making ice cream! The easy way! The quick way! I tried this with SILK's Heavy Whipping Cream and Madhava sweetner and it turned out amazing!
My son loves iced coffee

ReplyDeleteThe jam jar sounds fun! Hope you're having a nice Memorial Day. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this salute to summer! Even the somber parts, because that's life. That said, making the most of summer at home in something cool and pretty while trying out new recipes sounds divine.
