Well, he said he just couldn't trust her. "You're too cute for your own good."
"I get that a lot," Stacey replied there at the bar. She smiled back, thinking that was good to hear. She took her margarita on the rocks and went back to her table, and slipped on some tunes to veg to while the roar of the sports bar kept going. She was here to meet up with the other girls from the dorm. But she was beginning to wonder if they told her the wrong place, on purpose.
Honestly, she wouldn't put it past them. Maybe she was the one who shouldn't have put her trust in her circle. They liked to get drunk easily. Her luck, they'd probably call her in four hours to pick them up from somewhere.
As tiny and cute as Stacey was, she could always hold her liquor. Not that she was trying to see how much she could drink, but she drank enough and was always as steady as one could go, focusing and noticing what was about. Of course, she wore trusty sneakers and clothes that it might take a magician to get out of.
She'd give the girls a little more time. Of course, if they did get there she might leave as soon as she saw them.
Truth be told, she was getting tired of this duty. She yawned then. Thinking some tacos might be nice about now. She finished up her drink and just as she was leaving, well there were the girls ready for a party, no doubt. But she slipped out even if they were looking for her.
Into the nightlife of green neon streets, she went a few doors down she found the taco place. It was practically empty. She sat at the counter and ordered her regular. The guy who never wore a name tag, but his smile was fun to watch, brought her the plate of refried beans and tacos.
"I bet you go back there," he said as she was crunching on a savory taco dripping with sour cream goodness.
"Not unless you want to tell me something I want to hear," Stacey gave him a dead stare, "And you better not say I'm adorable, either." She practically fretted with a mouthful.
"I know, that didn't work last time," he shrugged with a smile as a strand of dark hair fell in his eyes as he winked. "How about? You really are beautiful and you shouldn't be wasting your time with a crowd like that."
He knows exactly what to say to her.
