It's true, you can hardly find a SWEET VALLEY HIGH paperback in our Young Adult collection. These days if it's not about the paranormal, liars, or Utopia storylines..well, you are out of luck. But it's Francine Pascal that lead me to other female fiction authors in YA. And even if I wasn't that fond of Sweet Valley, I really loved her GIA [the girl without a fear gene] from her Fearless series.
Now I know a lot will put Pascal down, but she got young girls to read and many found Ann M. Martin and the Babysitter's club and K.A. Applegate.
Oh, there is a new breed. I suppose. But sometimes, I just have to go back and look at some of these old pre-teen and teen series.
Me acuerdo ver la serie pero nunca leà los libros. Te mando un beso y gracias por la recomendación. https://enamoradadelasletras.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeleteAhhhh, Sweet Valley! I read a lot of the Sweet Valley Twins books, but only a handful from the Sweet Valley High series. I think I was too young for all the serious subject matter, and then by the time I was old enough, the books were too young for me. But I enjoyed reading about the middle school-age twins, especially their friends and clothes. And I was intrigued and revolted by Jessica's and Lila's exclusive Unicorn Club! Intrigued by the glam purple outfits, revolted by the mean girl behavior. Anyway, thanks for the nostalgia -- and the message that whatever gets girls reading has value. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦄
