One thing in a Chinese drama you will see is the ongoing theme of going after your dreams. And in this modern tale of E-Sports it gets complicated. It's big business there and the fans follow these players just as much as they do their entertainment idols. Also, teamwork is the other favorite storyline in these dramas. Although, it might take most of the drama to get there.
In this case, it shows how complicated business can be and how they try to push players out when the going gets tough. And of course, there always has to the go-getters who will sabotage to get what they want.
Also first love doesn't always win. And if these big businesses are going to hold you back from winning, well..start your own team [I'm not sure if this really works because It takes money to get in the game and the winning the game gives these business' money].
Still, I'm glad I got a chance to watch it. Although, Yeibo did get all the pretty clothes. I am glad Canadian Jerry Yan got to be a part of the group. Unfortunately, he had the worst hairstyle, but by the end he looked pretty cool. BTW this guy (in real life) got scholarships in Math and was quite the Mathmatic Guy yet went back to China to make it in the Pop Idol World.
Glad you liked it
ReplyDeleteI like that theme. And I'm glad that Asian dramas are getting more mainstream here.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to say too in re: your comments... I think we feel that way about characters and exactly right- I can totally see why you would want to not do that. when you have a character who speaks to you it would be disconcerting tohave someone else take them in an opposite direction!
Gracias por la reseña. Tomó nota te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThe theme of following your dreams never gets old! And this new spin on it in the world of e-sports sounds interesting, right down to the pretty clothes and (initially) bad haircut. Sounds like a winner! ✨🎮🎀
