The good & the bad of Vincent Price

When you think of Horror films, you might think of him. Although, when some think of Science Fiction classics they think of this tall actor, too. It's hard to believe he was born in St. Louis Missouri (I always thought he was British). There has always been a certain prestige about him. Maybe it's the voice or the stature. His father was a president of a national candy company and his grandfather made Baking Powder.

His family was prosperous, as he said, "not rich enough to evoke envy but successful enough to demand respect." He was a YALE man and educated in London, as well.

When a disease turns all of humanity into the living dead, the last man on earth becomes a reluctant vampire hunter.

In 1964 he made LAST MAN ON EARTH, which has been a genuine classic of this genre. It is said to be his best film.

The vengeful doctor rises again, seeking the Scrolls of Life in an attempt to resurrect his deceased wife.

While Dr. Phibs Rises Again (a sequel to the 1971 film), might have been his worst from 1972, but it's still a black comedy cult favorite. Truly a vengeful film and so 70ish. Although, it definitely dipped into the strangeness.

Vince had to play Anton Phibes "very seriously so that it would come out funny". The tagline, a parody of the ad for Love Story (1970), announced "love means never having to say you're ugly".

  4. Everything in this is new to me! And this may be my new favorite sentence: "His father was a president of a national candy company and his grandfather made baking powder." That's enough to make anyone rest on his laurels, but apparently not this dude! It's so cool that he became a horror icon. Also, the actress in the last pic looks like Katy Perry! 🦇🕸🦴🧟‍♀️🕷🧟‍♂️
