If you loved American Horror Story 1984, you'll die for this paperback original thriller mashup of Agatha Christie's The A.B.C. Murders and Riverdale in which a game turns deadly with a killer who picks his victims one by one, letter by letter.
Every year the senior class at Lincoln High plays assassin. Lia Prince has been planning her strategy for years and she's psyched that not only does she finally get to play, she's on a team with Devon Diaz. But this year, the game isn't any fun--it's real. Abby Ascher, Ben Barnard, and Cassidy Clarke have all turned up . . . dead. Can Lia stop the ABC killer before he reaches D?
It is YA. Although, I have to wonder of Underlined's motive for this book. Sure, it's got mystery but when you are playing assassin and then the people you are pretending to kill are killed might not be the best scenario you want to see these days. It starts out interesting, but the characters aren't quite what I was hoping for. They fall flat. When I saw it, immediately I thought..oh, like CODE (the Japanese series I just watched).
Honestly, I had no idea 5 Below even carried any paperbacks.

ReplyDeletesounds amazing, I will take note and I try to watch it
Thanks for sharing
have a nice day ♥
Glad you enjoyed
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that either. And the Riverdale reference got my attention. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. Angie is new (just showed up in the last chapter I think). she may play a larger role...
How was CODE? I'm still working my way through PArallel World... I may try other shows on Viki...
This is an Underline paperback and they used to have an online place to post your stories, but it went under I don't know if they are continuing publishing paperbacks or not. I think this book came out in 2020 or 2021. Usually, I am looking at all their writing prompt books and journaling at the book area where there are stacks on the table, but there are shelves underneath and I found paperback and graphic novels. I have found graphic novels before but usually they are in the teenage area with graphic tees. I won't say it's perfect, but it might inspire you..thinking "I can do this better.."
DeleteThat is so good to know! I kind of started with story prompts and flash fiction... On the Run was actually a flash fiction (or so I imagined it) before taking off...
DeleteHope you're feeling better! I just pan fry bacon too. Thanks for that tip! And yes those covers would be GREAT story prompts. In fact reviewing them (if I could ever track them down) would be fun.
I remember beverly Cleary...
Parrell Worlds..I have 8 more episodes to go. I am worried that everyone might get killed off. This happens quite a bit in some C-drama. The first one I watched was the Merman who I kept thinking..oh, that will be a happy every after..but it wasn't. In Word Of Honor they had the Death Wedding. That was crazy. Although, Priest (the writer of this drama) came through at the end. They didn't find a treasure, but at least it was scrolls to help others learn the garden of life. PW has shapeshifters and dragons, scorpions and snakes that that change people's memories. CODE does have some great performances. Sometimes, you just have to forget the subtitles and just watch.
DeleteI think I'm 7 episodes in so I have a ways to go yet! I'm looking forward to shapechangers. It is a slow burn, like you said, so I just have to stick with it and see wehre they go.

DeleteGracias por la reseña. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteOh my, an Agatha Christie and Riverdale mashup?! What will you find at Five Below next?!
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe that your style is not to Urstyle's liking! Your stories are always amazing. That's cool that HE CAME TO ART CLASS inspired some other writers, though. That was an especially good one, so layered! 🖤🎨🖤🎨🖤🎨
